I bet that that impression has something to do with the gelatinized layer that allows the volva to slip off the cap. If I ever get some microscope time, I’d like to check out that thought.
It is still in the ground. I think it is a marmorata too. Will put up more pics once it’s out. It is very difficult to get a proper pic of the marbling. There is like a clear film that covers the surface that makes it hard for the camera to capture what is beneath. I’ll go and see how she is doing right now. I think maybe by tomorrow she will be old enough to collect?
