Recognized by sight: cap up to 7 cm.,smooth conical & blood red at first becoming flatter with wavy margin fading to orange then yellow orange; narrowly attached yellow gills; stem red fading to orange then yellow, longitudinally striate with white base; yellow context; mild odor and taste; white spore deposit; on ground under huckleberry and redwood in mixed woods
