Medium sized fungus with a pinkish red compressed hollow stipe and a bulbuous base. Gills white, crowded. Odor fragrant, taste mild. Texture tough and “chewy”. Flesh white, thin.

seems to have more lamellulae than G. erythropus, and the gills appear to be closer together.
