Growing under oaks in sandy soil and with agapanthus. Specimen cap 7 cm across (others to 10 cm in situ), light brown (like the perfect roasted marshmallow) and lighter. Margins conspicuously striate, some only slightly lighter in color than cap context. Universal veil tissue thick and cottony, sometimes broken, peels from cap easily. Stalk 12 cm long and 2 cm wide, tapering toward apex. Surface scurfy when young to smooth and yellowish, with surface breaking into rings below when older (see photos). Center of stalk filled with cottony substance. Universal veil saclike, thick.
Spore print white.
