Recognized by sight: The cap looks scruffy, but the pictures are blurry so it’s only a promising ID.
Also the photos from a distance look right and the time of year is perfect.

the formerly named omphalina pyxidata now ONE of those darned contumyces? can we really just tell from a photo? this is not merely an academic question, ’cause I also collected a bunch of these up on Mt. Diablo yesterday. They were abundant in several stretches of damp shaded mossy habitat along the Falls Trail…I will post my sighting once I photograph them!
(no camera yesterday, it was a long hike to gawp at the wildflowers…lotsa those, too).
