Observation 197956: Acarospora rosulata (Th. Fr.) H. Magn.

Notes:
on quartzite; rocky broad northwestern ridge of summit, geology a mixture of siliceous metamorphic rocks; about 30 m northwest of west peak (about 75m west of main peak)

thallus strongly effigurate forming a lovely rosette, areoles gomphate to subsquamulose at margin convex shiny dark red-brown smooth to fissured dark brown-black underneath, cortex up to 100um with very thin epinecral layer cells ~3-5um, algal layer even to interrupted where thallus fissured, cortex and/or medulla C+r, apothecia angular rough dark brown crowded, epihymenium red-brown, hymenium up to 200um, paraphyses thin, spores many per ascus ~4-5×2-2.5um
