Observation 197969: Lecanora zosterae var. palanderi (Vain.) Śliwa

on dead moss; north-facing slope just north of rocky summit, geology a mixture of siliceous metamorphic rocks; about 20 m northwest of main peak

thallus inapparent, apothecia scattered to dense on moss debris, disk dark red-black-brown lightly pruinose or not, rims pruinose grayish, epihymenium red-brown with a few coarse granules clearing in K, hymenium ~50um hyaline clear, algae continuous under hymenium to top of margin, cortex very thin at top to ~80um below formed of highly gelatinized distinct layer of branching radiating hyphae with coarse gray K- POL+ granules near top, amphithecium faintly POL+ mostly clearing in K except for granules near top of margin, spores 8 per ascus ~12-13×6-7um
