Recognized by sight: Shape of the “head” of the stromata, and the way that it wears away from the top. Phylacia don’t have ostioles, they just wear down and spores are a powdery mess beneath the tip, in perithecia that are so fragile that they seem to merge into a single mass. This reminds me of Phylacia poculiformis, but is certainly a different fungus — I would be really surprised to find out that this is a described species.
