I guess we’ll have to wait for the DNA / mating studies to decide it. We have
something similar called O. olivascens out west, to add another complication.

says that the current name is Omphalotus olearius, and illudens a synonym.
I usually trust MycoBank more – but don’t take anything for granted, though..

Omphalotus olearius is restricted to Europe and the American mushroom has to be called O. illudens. But I think O. illudens also occurs in Europe …

According to the Index Fungorum, the current name of Omphalotus
olearius should be O. illudens. I had to enter the second name
according to the system.
