for the explanation, though now I wonder how high or low a volva needs to be in order to be one sp. or the other.

Taylor Lockwood has photographed this sp., or at least something he’s calling this sp. If it is indeed M. cubensis, it appears to be very, very similar to M. volvatus, enough to make me question any observation on the site with either name. I wonder if even a skilled Marasmiologist would be able to tell one from the other macroscopically.
