Observation 198348: Deconica crobula (Fr.) Romag.
When: 2012-11-03

Notes: Spores variable in size, ochre in KOH.
Spores avg: 6-7 × 4-5 µm. Ellipsoid in side view or weakly subrhomboid in top view.
Cheilocystidia clustered, lageniform with long non-capitate apices.

The macro-morphological variation illustrated in Noordeloos’ Strophariaceae is pretty extreme (the first image showing dingy, grayish young specimens with heavy veil remnants looks nothing like this, while the third (?) image looks a lot like these).

Long cheilo and smaller spore put it more in the D. crobula camp than D. inquilina, which was my initial identification.
