Recognized by sight: Reddish-brown, rounded-conical cap when young, soon fading outwards to beige, remaining bell-shaped to round-conical. In loose troops, tall, straight stature.
Used references
Based on microscopic features: Setae yellowish-brownish in water, thick-walled, with swollen-lance-shaped head. Spores quite large (up to 20 × 9 µm), very dark, with a germ pore.
