Otidea alutacea is usually easy to tell apart from others by the shape of the spores – but this is too dark anyway.

Nope, never looked at the spores. Not really an Otidea type of guy, and didn’t really know there was much to look for, so I can’t say much here.

Looks more like bufonia to me. Have you looked at the spores?
