Observation 19882: Morchella Dill. ex Pers.
When: 2009-04-01
Collection location: Tel Aviv, Israel [Click for map]
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Well, this is interesting. I went out to the back porch of my apartment located in the heart of Tel Aviv and found these growing! I’m not stupid enough to try them without identification, and I don’t feel comfortable doing that on my own. I think they are some variety of Morel, and am especially interested in their safety to eat. There are a few more small mushrooms sprouting near these. I love the idea of a patch so conveniently located, but not if they are dangerous. If they are unsafe, I would also appreciate advice on how to kill the patch, since I have a dog, and am scared that he may eat them. Thanks for the advice!
