Observation 19926: Sticta weigelii (Ach.) Vainio

Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Found chest-height on Nothofagus in high montane forest, on bench above permanent river, north to northwest slope of volcano.

Identifying characteristics: not caulescent, surface brown with coralloid isidia piled on and near margins, brown tomentose below with small inconspicuous white cyphellae.

Sticta sublimbata appears to be similar, but its isidia are more strictly marginal(?) and eventually erode to become pseudo-sorediate.
