Observation 199351: Agaricus L.
When: 2015-02-19

Notes: Two fungi growing in Eucalyptus forest in soil. Conditions wet with rain at time of find. These two were rather unusual in physical appearance. The more mature fungi had a rather large head and extremely thick stipe. Both felt firm when handled. They may be Russula, but at the time, I didn’t think to check the stipe for the breaking chalk effect.
The smaller of the two was badly infested, and this contributed to the browning colour change in the stipe. I have seen a lot of Russula of late but nothing like this pair.
