Notes: With oak, madrone, doug-fir nearby.

Cap cuticle tightly held, peeling ~1/4 to disc. A distinctive shade of dusky reddish with a brick or ochre component, and fine white bloom over the center. Stipe with yellow and orange discolorations. Many gills forked.

Taste mild, savory. Odor weak, slightly shrimpy.

Spores 7-8 × 6-6.5 µm. Broadly ellipsoid, apiculus prominent. Amyloid spines sparse, small, not connected by a reticulum. Lamellar cystidia cylindrical with a small round mucronate tip.

Spore deposit pure white.
