Observation 199561: Entoloma vernum var. isodiametrica Largent

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Habitat – These were growing in a grassy path in full sun. The nearest trees were 20-30 feet away and were hardwoods.

Taste- Didn’t taste it. Probably poisonous.

Smell- warm moderate mushroom smell.

Cap – 1.125 inch wide. Broad umbra at top. Moderate brown with short radially oppressed fibers. Slightly rolled under at edges.

Gills – Flesh color. Darker at edges probably due to spore. Moderately close with 2 short and one half length gill between. See photo. Notched almost free of stem.

Stalk – 1.25 inches long. 1/4 inch wide. Fibrous, hollowing, pliant but easily broken. White mycelium seen at base.

Mycellium – white

Spore – Reddish brown spore print, sparse spore print but enough to measure.

[20/1/1] L (-8.1) 8.3 – 9.7 (-9.8) μm x W (7.0-) 7.2 – 8.5 (-8.6) μm, (L = 9.0 μm, W = 7.7 μm), Q (-1.04) 1.05 – 1.25 (-), Q = 1.17
Broadly Ellipsoid, isodiametric.
