No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found in grass/on wood chips. Stinky odor. Decayed to mush before spore printing could be done. Cap slightly viscid. Brown Cap, White Stipe, Gills White to brown. See pics.

Recognized by sight: Thank you Randy for narrowing it down. After further research, I believe it to be Pluteus phaeocyanopus due to its’ habit on decaying wood, and the somewhat grainy texture of the caps. I could easily be wrong though, I’m pretty new to mycology.

Yes, slightly. I would describe it as green-gray, but I’m not too good with minute color differences. To me, gray and light blue appear very similar.

Did the stem stain slightly blue green ?
