Otidea is similar to Peziza, but not exactly the same. Otidea generally has a deeply cleft to the center of the attachment (stipe) and the hymenium wraps around this like an ear. Peziza tends to open outward into an ear-like or cup-like hymenium. Otidea is a good choice for this obs.; but Peziza is better IMO. Try checking out other Otideas on this site, Courtney and Pat.
