Observation 200174: Cantharellus Adans. ex Fr.
When: 2015-02-28

Notes: Amazing find for several reasons. The Size, colour and condition of this fungi was excellent. We have had flooding rains and this day was the first day I was able with 4WD to access the forest due to the cyclonic conditions over the past few days. (Some areas had received over two feet,(24inches of rain in 24 hours).
This fungi, which I believe to be of the Cantharellus species, showed large growth in fruiting body and Stipe/Root. The extremely large thick root was in good condition and no infestation of the fungi was evident. Only the one specimen found in the whole area worked. The Fungi was in an open forest floor area covered with leaves and forest debris. No unusual aroma or special identifying characteristics except for the "Clam like " feature of the fruiting body.
