Observation 200683: Laetiporus sulphureus (Bull.) Murrill
When: 2013-05-26
No herbarium specimen

Notes: The log was partially submerged in a slow flowing, swampy area with dense vegetation and broken direct sunlight. This looked like the first fruiting on this log, and it appeared to have been lying there for a few years. The log was about 2 feet wide at the base and about 20 feet long with three feet of one end submerged. The area had lots of skunk cabbage. The water was rich with dark silt. The bottom was mostly fine sand with a little clay. My daughter gets extra points for spotting this one.
