Observation 201331: Laricifomes officinalis (Batsch) Kotl. & Pouzar

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Three little “beehives” fruiting in a cluster about 46ft up an old growth Douglas fir. Final images show the size of tree and mid level step(on right) where these were hanging. Completely dead tissue specimens about to fall from the substrate-(no fresh pore growth at bases evident).

Note small white tissue cluster, left of center in the first image- fresh tissue harvested above 45 feet. Crazy climbing skills whoever collected it…

Elevation: 4300ft.

Temp: mid 50’s.
