Growing on the ground in mixed woods, mostly conifers.
Caps up to 3.0 cm across.
Odor slightly spermatic.
Spores ~ 9.0-11.2 X (5.1)5.8-7.1 microns. smooth and amygdaliform.
Gill cystidia plentiful, ~ 55-75 X 13-18 microns, with crystals at the apices.
Inocybe terrifera(a European species with lighter cap colors) is also a possibility.
