Observation 202178: Nidularia Fr.

When: 2015-03-31

Collection location: Olympic National Park, Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dan Molter (shroomydan)

No specimen available

These bird nest fungi were growing on woody thorny underbrush in the rain forest. Most of them were devoid of ‘eggs’ making me suspect that they were old, but this one with eggs present and all the visible primordia make me suspect that these are fresh, and the majority lost their eggs early due to frequent heavy rains.
