Observation 202269: Strobilomyces Berk.
When: 2015-04-02

Notes: Cap Dark Brown. Two fungi of different maturity found together. No other specimens found. Area of find was wet and damp with very low available light. Location is remote Rain forest with dense foliage and heavy canopy. The Red Bruising (Bleeding) effect seemed to increase in colour after a short time when fungi was bisected.. The stipe separation from the pileus showed this effect immediatlty.

Looking at all the photos in this obs, various dark areas do seem to occasionally exhibit a bluish luster. Maybe lighting? Contrast? I run into these types of issues with my own digital photos.

Not a blue stain

I’ve seen this before in this taxon in Queensland. It looks to be a dark discoloration with age. I should probably post my own Obs for this taxon.
