How inconsiderate that they don’t grow near nice sharp edges where they can be flaked off easily! :)

The identity of this beauty may remain unknown. While I did pick some loose chips of rock with something that looked similar in the field, it seems to be different at closer look. These are on the quartzite rock face, and the only way to get a sample (apart from finding small loose piece of rock) is to blast the darn thing off, but I don’t carry a stick of dynamite as a matter of habit :-) Besides, even though I have a permit to collect here, I have to mind that this is an Ice Age National Scientific Reserve and one has to be mindful of protecting this treasured site. So I’ll keep looking for loose rock pieces…
