There is considerable overlap… or more to the point, A. puntata is so variable that it can mimic any form of A. polyspora it cares to.

My comments below were for A.punctata,

However, Jim Bennett said A. punctata could be indistinguishable from A.polysporina morphologically, and he IDd this as the latter.

Around here, the typical apearance for this species is in those almond-shaped “pods”
