Observation 202756: Xylobolus subpileatus (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Boidin
When: 2015-04-10

Notes: A few growing on underside of large dead tree which had fallen but was not touching the ground. Specimens have narrow point of attachment to the substrate. Non-fertile surface densely hairy with concentric zones of color. Fertile surface whitish and smooth. SPECIAL NOTE: In situ (bottom) photo shows a pinkish hue to the fertile surface. This is a distortion, probably due to the angle of the afternoon sun and/or camera angle (shooting upward from under the log). The specimen is NOT pinkish, but actually creamy white.
