The two spores pictured measured 23 × 10 µm and 20 × 9 µm. Smaller than what is mentioned at MushroomExpert.com, but the shape seems correct for G. korfii, and the asci are 8 spored.

morels and false morels. Try wrapping them in aluminum foil and be patient. It may take several days or more… The spores are slow to mature.

This looks like G. korfii to me.

It would be helpful to see the upturned fruit body.

Spores are slow to drop from these types… at least in my experience. When seeking or viewing spores, try both KOH and water mounts. Ornamentation of spores (apical projections) may be best observed in water.

Couldn’t seem to find any spores

This didn’t seem to drop a spore print and I didn’t see any spores under a crush mount of the surface flesh. Any tips on micro with this genus?
