Amanita fibrillopes is the correct name for the Australian species that was given the invalid name A. persicina R. N. Hilton & Clancy. I wonder what will happen when A. persicina (Dav. T. Jenkins) Tulloss & Geml finally comes out. I don’t know if MO can distinguish between cases where the same name is used by two different authors…with one name invalid and the other valid.

Very best,

Rod

to be Amanita muscaria var. persicina Dav. T. Jenkins or the new combination of that name which is expected to be published soon: Amanita persicina (Dav. T. Jenkins) Tulloss & Geml. The paper is waiting for the last peer reviewer to send the last review.

The Hilton and Clancy name was never validly published and the material in the Perth herbarium that Hilton and others called “Amanita persicina” has turned out to have another name: A. fibrillopes.
