I don’t think we need to bump this down to genus level just because other species have been described. If the features match, might as well use this name unless there is evidence that one of the other names applies better.

Lycogala species

MO lists over 30 accepted species of Lycogala. Does anyone have a resource to indicate everything we find is L. epidendrum?

I don’t feel that calling these obses just “Lycogala” is ruining much fun from ID precision, because we aren’t really even guessing at distinct subtaxa.
