Observation 20386: Pseudocyphellaria endochrysa (Delise) Vainio
When: 2009-02-25
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Alpine heath, among Gaultheria / Pernettya and mosses.

Distinguished by its pale grayish/greenish, unwrinkled, minutely pubescent (esp. visible near tips) lobes; yellow medulla and pseudocyphellae underneath; abundant black apothecia with white fuzzy margins. Further, it is supposed to have linear coallesced pseudocyphellae along the margins on the underside (I have no notes of this, nor can I make it out in the photo). It is a southern species, occurring only south of 50°S.
