Observation 20387: Pseudocyphellaria granulata (Church. Bab.) Malme
When: 2008-12-13
Herbarium specimen reported
0 Sequences

On Nothofagus trunk in open montane forest.

I can’t decide for sure whether this has green algae or cyanobacteria. It has white medulla and pseudocyphellae. But what are the schizidia on the margins? Are those eroded isidia or soredia?

I have another specimen supposedly, from near Rio Grande on Tierra del Fuego which is all black below.

Tim Wheeler suggests that this is either P. granulata (if green algal) or P. bartlettii (if cyanobacterial), and is leaning toward the former.
