Observation 203985: Pulveroboletus innixus (Frost) Singer

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Reddish brown caps with yellow non-staining pores. Stipe yellowish white with longitudinal lines – not reticulated- near apex and tapering towards a base with yellow basal mycelium. Pileal context yellowish, not staining. Found in mixed woods with Oak, White Pine, and Black Birch present. B. subtomentosus context may stain bluish-or not, and its pores stain greenish to brownish, and its stipe also stains. B. subglabripes has white basal mycelium. B. tenax has a context that stains reddish purple, and pores that stain cinnamon red when bruised. B spadiceus var. gracilis context blues near the margin when bruised. Did not smell, taste it or apply chemicals to it.
