Observation 204489: Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fr.) Quél.

When: 2015-05-16

Collection location: Millersylvania State Park, Thurston Co., Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Drew Henderson (Hendre17)

No specimen available

Notes:
Small primordial clusters peaking out from this red alder(Alnus rubra) tree. On the East side of the state at this time of year we find P.populinus fruiting similarly on Cottonwoods along multiple river corridors.

Multiple substrates along the lake trail here at Millersylvania today.

We cooked these over the campfire with carne asada grease and tamales for a side. Delicious and springy when young like this!

Neighboring campers tried a sample both after the meal and the next morning :-)

Elevation: Sea level.

Temp: low 60’s.
