Notes: On Valley Oak (Quercus lobata) bark in mixed oak forest at intersection of Klau Mine Road and Dodd Road.

Thallus grey, lobes pruinose, K- upper cortex, underside pale, rhizines black, squarrose and dense, apothecia pruinose with lobules on margin (new photos added, green due to being wet).

Sorry for that, not sure what happened but I surely did not look at it and made an odd choice based on a photo I saw somewhere. All features point to P. americana, thanks!

Note the little lobules around the apothecia

Very typical of this species. Note that K- cortex should rule out Physcia, unless you meant the medulla was K-? Still, dense pruina, dense black rhizines, lobules, all point to Physconia americana
