There is no cross section to ensure that, but one is hardly necessary. Look at images of C. cf. rubroflava elsewhere on the site (particularly in the Neotropical Fungi list) and you’ll see the exact same folds and contorting above a pseudostipe as shown here.

the aborted form of Armillaria caused by Entoloma abortivum. So I wonder if this is an aborted form of some agaric? Any other mushrooms growing near this?

suggest fungi has a exterior hymenium unlike Calvatia. Only cross-section will prove or disprove.
