Observation 205005: Agaricales sensu lato
When: 2015-05-23
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found alongside man-made creek over 7500 ft, alone. Growing in the soil, with a long “root” extended sideways underneath the soil (perhaps because of an underlying rock). Color was quite striking.

Apologies for the poor cap photo—by this time I was pretty tired, and wasn’t too concerned as I had planned on taking the specimen home for ID purposes. Unfortunately, it was lost in the shuffle at the car.

I’m going back up to the same area tomorrow. I’ll try to see if I can find a similar specimen, and this time I will make sure to do a better job of documenting things.

**edit: five dry days later, no similar mushrooms found.
