Notes: Fruiting on buried wood in yard of private suburban residence. Black spore print. A much larger grouping grew in this same area last year.

I appreciate your time in bringing this observation up to date. I am still a little confused between the identification of C. micaceus and Coprinellus sect. Micacei. On my previous observation # 203355 the ID went back and forth a bit. Can you explain to me when C. micaceus would be the correct ID or is that totally deprecated…. or maybe dependent on microscopy. I’d love to be confident when making the ID as I am apt to see these again. Thanks so much.
