G. earleae qualifies even more solidly for “dryophilus group”, isn’t that the best name for this obs? I’m not even trying to differentiate the species within the group at this point, ‘cause I can’t even always distinguish it from Rhodocollybia butyracea or Marasmius strictipes…

is described as having yellow to yellowish orange gills when young. Another possibility is G, earleae

The group of G. dryophilus species have caused me much uncertainty over the years.

Is your alternative G. subsulphureus? I’d call that part of the “dryophilus group”…
