Recognized by sight: brown densely hairy depressed caps under 1 cm. with paler margin, yellow brown hairy underside, dark brown hairy stem, no sign of pores, on ground by path in mixed hardwoods ( one specimen growing from submerged wood)

Both books are dated and pre DNA publications.

I wondered about that,
