Notes: Hughes Mountain rises 380 feet above the Big River floodplain and is one of the highest points in Missouri. The top of the mountain is comprised of rhyolite which was formed by ancient lava flows about 1.4 billion years ago. An interesting spot for those who enjoy seeing lichens.
