Conk growing from cut end of log.

New photos May 25: good closeup, similar to before, and context. Log appears to be pine, and area is dominated by Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) albeit with some Black Spruce (Picea mariana), Paper Birch (Betula Papyrifera), unidentified other tree species present.

Conk grew a bit in a month.

F. pinicola is a European species. Based on recent molecular information it probably doesn’t occur in NA.
