Notes: Found by others, it looks to be these were found mostly on the ground, not on cones say.

during my mycophagous time back then but find them not good … the taste is somewhat biting. But as Irene said in this time of the year there is not much more to collect in the woods so what …
but it’s irksome gathering enough of ’em

Had to try, just to find out what they were like. No sensation, but they were all right. They often grow in large groups, in early spring when not much else is out there, so why not :-)
And you only use the caps, of course.

lovely little things, but esculentus???! who would eat these?
