Observation 20658: Boletus L.

Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Two specimens gathered on separate days (7 & 13 Feb 2009) and brought to me.

Pores are stuffed when young. Hymenophore is yellow and although I didn’t obtain a spore print, the color is likely an olive brown. See Ian’s Observation #20634 for what I think is the same thing and obviously more robust. I’m awaiting arrival of my vouchers for further examination.

Note the appressed scales on the pileus in conjunction with the ornamented stipe is a really odd combination in boletes.

Looks like a combination of Boletus with Leccinum, really nice one! When I was on Fraser I just found polypores there …
