Have seen this species before, but always in a cluster. This found singly in wet mulch. Cap 7 cm., stem 5 cm. and somewhat longitudinally ridged. Spore print whitish. Gills becoming pinkish with age.

for looking at my observation and noting the stem was not twisted. Michael Kuo does say stem “often twisted”, but in looking at photos he has of that species at his web site they don’t look twisted to me. I have looked at various observations on MO and many do not look twisted. So I wonder if the twisted stalk thing is variable. This is not a big deal to me as I have seen this species before, but always in a cluster. Somehow, I just thought it to be odd that this one was solitary. THAT fact made me wonder if it were another Gymnopus. THANKS!
