Observation 20718: Amanita Pers.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: This fungi was growing in the sandy loam. it was available to about 50% of direct sunlight. The cap as shown was Brown, sticky and about 3.5cm across. There was no aroma identified. The stipe did not feel sticky, but as can be seen in the image, there were grains of sand adhered to the stipe. I did notice fine wart type growths on the stipe. There was a bulbous base that was developed below ground level. The fungi was growing in sandy loam. There was no visible ring.

The ring is in place covering the gills.

I agree that there is a good chance this is an Amanita. Probably in section Amanita or section Validae. Also, probably not yet bearing spores.
