Notes: This is another example of what I’ve been calling “species 34.”
I just checked the Amanita Studies website, and the description of species 34 is not currently available. In the past, this species had been described as having a partial veil. Of the hundreds of specimens that I have examined, none has ever exhibited any evidence of partial veil. I have examines numerous newly emerged buttons. The species is quite common on lawns with oak or other hardwoods.
