Recognized by sight: “Panaeolus sensu lato” would be a better name. Seems to be Panaeolus growing in the same spot as Panaeolopsis. Not sure.

Panaeolopsis & Panaeolus

I don’t see a single “normal” form among the 100? 200? other Panaeolopsis fruiting bodies in observations here. The one possible exception is Mushane’s obs 57550 with a set of each, and no intermediate forms.

I also don’t see any intermediate forms in this patch of grass.

This makes me suspect that, whether Panaeolopsis is a different genus/species, or just a form of a common Panaeolus/Panaeolina, these normal fruiting bodies should not be called Panaeolopsis.
